Niles Brinkley comes from a strong football background as his father Lorenzo Brinkley played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Niles red shirted his freshman year at UW after a senior in high school that placed him among the top 70 cornerbacks in the nation. After one year as a red shirt freshman in 06’ and spot duty on special teams in 07’ Niles Brinkley lettered for the first time in 08’. This was somewhat of a breakout year for Brinkley that began with a two interception game versus Marshall in the second game of the season. Other highlights include an interception in the Homecoming game versus Illinois and another pick against Minnesota helping UW retain the heralded Paul Bunyan Axe. Just a Sophomore Brinkley hopes to build on this success in the coming seasons.
