Jay Valai became eligible as a sophomore in 2007. As a high school cornerback, he was considered one of the best in the country. He played his high school ball at Colleyville Heritage in Euless, Texas. In 2007, he played eleven of thirteen games, missing two with an injury. He had a great game September 27 of this year, where he had seven tackles against Fresno State.
