As a senior at Menominee High School in Menominee, MI, Pedersen was named first team all-conference and all-state. He was also named the defensive player of the year in the Upper Peninsula and conference player of the year. Pedersen participated in the UP all star game and the Michigan coaches all star game. In addition to football, Pedersen also lettered in basketball and track and field.
