J.P. Gavinski is from Baraboo, WI and is a redshirted junior entering his fourth year in the Wisconsin Men’s Badger Basketball program. In high school, Gavinski was a second-team all-state selection by the Associated Press as a senior. He averaged 20.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 7.6 blocked shots during his senior year. With his help, the Wisconsin Dells was victorious and earned three South Central conference titles.
In 2007-08, Gavinski made his debut as a redshirted freshman and made two points and two rebounds at the IPFW game and then had two more points and one rebound in the final home game v. Penn State. He played in seven games that season. In 2008-09, Gavinski recorded a career-high one block and also tied his previous career-high two points and two rebounds in five minutes at the game against SIU-Edwardsville. In the 2009-10 season played in three games.
