Born in Colorado Springs, CO and raised in San Antonio, TX, sophomore Ian Markolf has brought great skill and size to the Badgers roster. In high school, Markolf was a three-time all-district honoree and was named preseason first-team all-state by Texas Basketball Magazine as a senior. As a junior he averaged 13 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game in his junior year.
In his freshman year at Wisconsin during the 2008-09 season, Markolf posted two points connecting on the only field goal attempt and had a single assist in two minutes of playing time at the SIU-Edwardsville game. He also picked up his first career assist at the game versus Green Bay. In 2009-10, Markolf played in a single game.
