Eric Springer is a sophomore from Wrightstown, WI. He had a great high school career in which he played for the Sioux Falls Stampete of the USHL where he was a USHL All-Star, named second-team All-USHL and a USHL Defensive player of the week. Springer had a strong leadership position with defense, posting eight goals and 31 points in 58 games. Springer was also ranked sixth in his respective league in scoring among defenders. In 2006-07, he skated with Team Illinois and in 2005-06 he skated with the Green Bay Junior Gamblers.

Since becoming a badger, Springer posted his first career game as a freshman in the 2008-09 season, playing at the Boston College game. His first collegiate career assist set up goal took place at Minnesota Duluth. Throughout his first season he played in 19 game, seven of which were consecutive.
