Devan Smith is a young freshman who started on special teams this year. He managed to pick up a fumbled during the Michigan game. As a new player, he has most opportunities on special teams.

Coming out of Texas, he played for Coppell high school. His father played college football, and his uncle played for the Buccaneers.

During his high school play, he was Texas first-team, district first team, and team captain.
