More Info
A Native of Racine Wisconsin, Maragos hails from a family with strong athletic tradition. His father was a Safety at Northern Iowa University and he inherited many of those skills. Maragos has a long history of prep achievements in Wisconsin as a participant in Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Track at Racine-Horlick High School. Maragos truly shined in Football and Track earning All-Conference honors a total of twelve times between the two sports.
Maragos initially took his defensive skills to the University of Western Michigan where his hard work and dedication paid off as he made the team as a walk-on. After starting eight of his thirteen games played there Maragos transferred to his home state to play for the Wisconsin Badgers. Maragos missed the entire 07’ season due to the NCAA mandated rule for transferring, which allowed him to return fresh for the 08’ season recording his first career tackle Sept. 6th against Akron.
The consummate utility player Maragos has also made contributions on special teams as a holder on the PAT and Field Goal units and Kickoff and Punt Return units. Against Illinois on October 25th Maragos had his first interception and returned it 51 yards, serving as a sign of things to come for the soon to be senior.
