The Wisconsin Badgers basketball program goes back to the year 1898.  Seven seasons later, the Badgers had their first All-American.  One year after that, the team won their first Big Ten Championship.  One can imagine that the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball team has seen many championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in the past 110 years.  Badgers Basketball tickets were cheap and plentiful in the beginning. 

Prior to the creation of the NCAA tournament, the Badgers were champs in 1912, 1914, and 1916.  Their coach Walter Meanwell was big part in those championship years.  He led the team as they went 30-0 over two seasons.  Lots of All-Americans were born in Meanwell era.  The names include Guy Lowman, George Lewis, and Bud Foster.

Harold Foster took over as Badgers coach and stuck around for 25 years.  He was there when the Badgers won the 1941 NCAA championship.  Sadly, as Foster left the Badgers, so did their winning ways.  It would take nearly fifty years for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team to recover.  During the lean years, Badgers Basketball tickets were easy to obtain.

Dick Bennett helped to bring Badgers basketball back to the limelight.  His greatest achievement was to coach the 2000 Badgers team to the Final Four.  On the way, his team defeated the number one team in the tournament.  Bennett suffered from fatigue, and decided to leave in the middle of his 2001 season.  Bo Ryan took over as head coach.
