The Milwaukee Bucks came to be in 1968. The movers and shakers of Milwaukee were awarded the franchise, and struck gold when they drafted Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. This team took a rocket ride to the 1971 NBA title. That's the fastest ascent of a brand new team in NBA history. That season, they finished that season 66-16.
Along with Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson was a key player in their 1970 season. These two players carried the team to victory time after time. 1971 was the only year where the Bucks won the NBA Championship. In late 1975, the Bucks traded Abdul-Jabbar. Milwaukee acquired five players in the deal, but deal created bad blood between the owners.
The Milwaukee Bucks have 13 division titles to their name. They have only two conference titles to boast about, but rabid fans still hope for the best.
The Bradley Center is home for the Milwaukee Bucks. The first Bradley Center tip-off occurred on November 5, 1988. With a generous donation from the Bradley family, Milwaukee had a new venue and excited fans with high hopes on that day. Milwaukee has yet to go deep into the playoffs since moving to the Bradley Center.
Herb Kohl has remained committed to keeping the Bucks in Milwaukee. He would like to see the Bradley Center get another face lift. The team resides in a small market, and needs every bit of revenue just to keep up with the giants of the NBA.
