Frank Tamakloe Commits to Wisconsin

By Badger Buddy Paul (07/01/2009 03:11 PM)

Recruiting a solid prospect at safety for the Wisconsin Badgers is most urgent.  The Badgers stand to lose two seniors at the end of this season.  Frank Tamakloe made an oral commitment to play for Wisconsin, and that should bring some safety stress relief in the coming years.

Tamakloe has the size, strength, and raw talent to impress scouts and the recruiters at Wisconsin.  He is not afraid to hit the opposing players.  This young man excels scholastically, on top of athletically.  On top of all the good things, he likes the city of Madison and the campus.

Wisconsin Badgers Running Back a Fit in New Orleans?

By Wisconsin Badger Phil (05/26/2009 02:46 PM)

  P.J. Hill

The New Orleans Saints might have a need for P.J. Hill.  He left Wisconsin one year early.  He didn't get drafted this spring, but there may be a spot on the Saints squad for a short yardage runner like P.J.  If he can adjust his stance to a lower level, that would make the Saints happy.  Scouts fear that the does not have the power in the lower body in order to strip tacklers.  He wasn't the type of runner that had a burst of speed big enough to create separation.

P.J. Hill is agile, can shift, and run to the open hole.  If he could do all of that while lowering his center, New Orleans is interested.  There are no other teams interested in Hill at the time of this post.

Badgers Fans Remember Ron Dayne

By Wisconsin Badger buddy Paul (04/16/2009 11:41 AM)

Wisconsin Badger football fans remember Ron Dayne as one of the best running backs in division 1A college football.  When you play for the Badgers, you are not going to be one of the high profile players.  That fit Dayne just fine.  He worked hard every season, and slowly built up record numbers until he won the Heisman Trophy in 1999.

When you look around Camp Randall Stadium, there are very few numbers draped in honor.  Ron Dayne's number is one of them.  His number was retired in 2007.  Holding the record for college rushing yards still stands to this day.  His efforts made him only one of five players to amass over one thousand yards in each of his four seasons.

In 2000, The Wisconsin Badgers said farewell to Dayne, as he was drafted by the New York Giants.  Being paired up with Tiki Barber, Dayne helped take the Giants to the Super Bowl.  From there, his carries dropped off.  His running style didn't mesh well with the Giants coaching staff.  Denver picked Ron up, and he spent one year in the Mile High city.

Houston picked up the former Wisconsin Badger running back when he was cut from the Broncos.  His best month for 2006 was December, when he rushed for over 400 yards and scored five touchdowns.  Currently, Ron is a free agent.

Wisconsin Badgers pick John Clay

By Badger Buddy Paul (03/31/2009 12:46 PM)

Wisconsin Badgers John Clay

Wisconsin Badgers John Clay is just two years into his college football career, and the Badgers are ready to make him their key running back.  Clay knows that he has to lose some weight.  He hurts himself trying to carry his bulk around Camp Randall.

The second thing that Clay needs is a better understanding of the offense.  The Badger coaches feel that he grasped about one-half of what he needs to know in order to be first choice at running back.  There are two training camps for Wisconsin players to get through every year.  The spring camp is the best time to learn the system.  From there, the fall camp is where these young men master what they learned in spring.  Clay might need that fall camp to catch up and "cram" for that final.

Who's Heading To The NFL?

By Badger Buddy Paul (02/18/2009 03:05 PM)

Kraig Urbik is trying his luck in the NFL Combine.  Urbik injured his knee playing against Penn State back in August of 2008.  Most scouts see Urbik going in the middle rounds of this upcoming draft.  At 6'6" and weighing over three hundred pounds, he has the size to play in the NFL. He ranks third best of nearly 200 college guards in college football.

Other prospects coming out of Wisconsin include Travis Beckum, P.J. Hill, Jonathan Andre, Andrew Kemp, M. Schaugnessy, and J. Casillas.
